Sam Bakuri, DMD, MSD

Board-Certified Periodontist

Helping others is Dr. Bakuri’s passion. He believes in comprehensive treatment and understands that dental health is very important to a person’s overall health. He enjoys seeing his patients smile, be happy, healthy and confident.

Extended Education and Teaching Experience

Dr. Bakuri earned his DMD degree from the prestigious Ivy League University of Pennsylvania. He furthered his education with three years of periodontal training at Virginia Commonwealth University, where he also earned a Master of Science in Dentistry.

Dr. Sam Bakuri - Periodontist

Today, he is an assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, where he teaches periodontics and implantology to dental students and residents. He is certified in IV sedation and he is also on the faculty at the Allegheny General Hospital. He has lectured on dental implant procedures for the American Academy of Periodontics and is a guest lecturer for universities and institutions throughout the U.S.

As founder and director of the Pittsburgh Dental Horizon Study Club, Dr. Bakuri is dedicated to bringing outstanding continuing education to dentists in the Tri-State community.

Awards

Dr. Bakuri is a board-certified periodontist, the recipient of the George Coslet Award in Periodontics from the University of Pennsylvania and a member of the Golden Key Honor society.

Giving Back

To help our fellow citizens who are not able to afford dental care, Dr. Bakuri volunteers with Remote Area Medical in Wise County, Virginia.

Matthew Mason, DDS

Dr. Matthew Mason earned both his DDS and PhD degrees from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry where he was inducted into the dental honor society Omicron Kappa Upsilon. During his dual-degree training, Dr. Mason was continuously supported by the National Institutes of Health/National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIH/NIDCR). He then went on to complete his specialty training in periodontology, where he earned an MS degree and served as chief resident, and an advanced fellowship in dental implants from the University of North Carolina Adams School of Dentistry.

Following his training, Dr. Mason worked as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina Adams School of Dentistry where he served as the periodontology predoctoral program director while maintaining a robust clinical practice focused on all aspects of periodontology and surgical implant dentistry in the Dental Faculty Practice.

Dr. Mason is a board-certified periodontist committed to providing patients with the highest standard of dental care and dedicated to bringing exceptional education to the dental community to improve patient’s comprehensive well-being.

Outside of the office, Dr. Mason enjoys playing golf, cycling, traveling, and spending time with his wife, Kim, and son, Henry.
