Functional Crown Lengthening
In cases where a tooth is badly worn, decayed or fractured below the gumline, we use a procedure called “crown lengthening” to adjust the gum and bone level and expose more of the healthy tooth structure prior to placing a dental crown.
Exposing more natural tooth structure enables the crown to be more securely held, and it prevents the crown from being placed below the gumline, which would damage gum tissue and bone.
Functional crown lengthening is accomplished quickly and easily with our soft-tissue diode laser.
